First, straight gear

Advantages: simple tooth shape, design and processing technology is mature, relatively low manufacturing costs; easy to assemble, relatively low requirements for the installation accuracy; there is no axial force at work, the bearing load is relatively simple, do not need to set up additional axial force balancing device, can simplify the structure of the pump.

Disadvantages: in the meshing process, the number of teeth involved in meshing at the same time is relatively small, low degree of overlap, resulting in poor transmission smoothness, easy to produce vibration and noise during operation; relatively low load-bearing capacity, not suitable for high load, large flow and high pressure melt conveying conditions; due to the instantaneous change in the number of meshing teeth, the flow rate pulsation is large, which affects the stability of the melt conveying.

Second, helical gear

Advantages: when meshing, the tooth contact line is inclined, and at the same time participate in the meshing of the number of teeth is more, the degree of overlap is large, the transmission is smooth, and can effectively reduce the level of vibration and noise; higher load-bearing capacity, can withstand a larger load, is suitable for high-pressure, high-flow melt conveying; due to the tooth surface of the relative sliding speed is small, the wear of the tooth surface is small, and improves the service life of the gear.

Disadvantages: processing difficulty relative to spur gears, higher manufacturing costs; higher requirements for lubrication conditions, if poor lubrication, easily lead to tooth gluing and other forms of failure.

Third, herringbone gear

Advantages: a combination of the advantages of helical gears, with a large degree of overlap, smooth transmission, strong load-bearing capacity, able to withstand high loads, large flow rate of melt conveying tasks; due to the left and right sides of the helix angle of equal size and opposite direction, the resulting axial force to offset each other without the need for a special axial force balancing device, so that the working conditions of the bearings have been improved to prolong the service life of the bearings.

Disadvantages: complex structure, manufacturing difficulty, need for special processing equipment and technology, high manufacturing cost; installation and commissioning requirements, strict requirements for assembly accuracy, increasing the difficulty of installation and maintenance; due to its structural characteristics, herringbone gear melt pump is relatively large, occupying more space.
